The Dunbar Bear sculpture by Kelpies sculptor Andy Scott, Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland, UK.
The Dunbar Bear sculpture, a five metre steel statue - near Dunbar, East statue pays tribute to one of East Lothian's most famous sons - John Muir, who was born in Dunbar in 1838. The bear is symbolic of his travels through America's wild places. Muir emigrated from Scotland in 1849, and played a key role in the development of America's national parks. He petitioned the Congress for the National Park bill, which established Yosemite National Park. The statue was sculpted by Scottish artist Andy Scott who designed the Kelpies statues in Falkirk.
