Immuno-gold labelling. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of antibodies (orange) labelled with gold particles (black dots). Antibodies, part of the body's immune system, bind to specific targets. They can be produced to bind to a number of molecules of interest. When introduced to a sample, the antibodies bind to their target and the presence of the gold particles allows their location to be easily identified on a micrograph.
