Opened on June 11 2005 the Nobel Peace Center is housed in the former Vestbanen train station on the Oslo harbor waterfront close to City Hall where the Nobel prizes are presented The Center mounts exhibitions and tells the story of Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates It also includes a cafe and gift shop The Center combines exhibits and films with digital communication and interactive installations The opening exhibitions include a video installation called The Triptych of Hope a photo exhibition on Control Arms by Amnesty International in addition to a film theater high tech presentations of the Laureates and information about Alfred Nobel Principal architect of the Center is David Adjaye with designs by David Small and other artists
