At intervals along the "Grand Canyon of the Alaska Highway," bull dozers have opened outlets toward the low side of the road to drain the seepage water and ooze. The drainage of this "flowing mud" is increased as the trucks being pulled through the ditch push the mud ahead of them. Occasional boulders hidden in this ooze constantly threaten to damage the underside of these trucks. Section B2. Mile Post August 17, 1943. Photo by Pinkstaff. State: Alaska.
