An English Civil War reenactor in the uniform of a Royalist foot soldier at a recreation of the siege of Corfe Castle in 1645-46. Dorset, England, UK.
Lord Hopton’s Regiment of Foote, an English Civil War re-enactment group, dramatises the siege and fall of Corfe Castle, which took place during 1645-1646. The members of the group assemble together regularly from all parts of the country to put on these colourful displays. Here we see an enthusiast in the uniform of a Royalist footsoldier. As well as re-enacting epic historical events, this group of history enthusiasts also provide us with an insight into the more prosaic everyday lives of the ordinary men, women and children who lived in 17th century England.
