FASLANE, Scotland (Oct. 1, 2017) Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class Vincent Marez, from Denver, stands watch aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) as the ship departs Faslane, Scotland, to participate in exercise Formidable Shield 2017, Oct. 1. Formidable Shield is a 6th Fleet-led, Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO-conducted exercise which will improve allied interoperability in a live-fire integrated air and missile defense environment, using NATO command and control reporting structures.
