Low magnification light micrograph of a sublingual salivary gland. The sublingual gland is the body's most voluminous mucous gland. It is a practically pure mucosa gland, with the serous component very scarce and difficult to see. Most of the image is occupied by mucous tubulo-acini, which appear as rounded and pale structures. Several connective tissue septa containing excretory ducts and blood vessels can be seen. Magnification: x18 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
