Original patriotic troops of girl guides and boy scouts parading through a town, marching with a Union Jack flag, public scouting rally, some of the onlookers are wearing a lapel ribbon, circa 1912,

Possibly early on in the guide movement, circa 1912 when the girls wore white rucksacks over their uniform. None of the girls are wearing official hats, the hats of the onlookers date to the 1911, 1912 period when big hats were fashionable. Some of the onlookers are wearing a bow pinned to the lapel, but not known what this indicates. The girl at the front of the parade holds a wooden staff - carried when on ambulance work (added to the uniform in 1910).
