The tower of the Lamberti in Verona, Italy, was built in 1172. Additions were made in 1448 and the clock was installed in 1779.

The tower was built for the Lamberti family in 1172 at a period when wealthy families typically built defensive towers and competed for height so that their missiles would have the assistance of gravity when hurled towards their enemies. The upper bell chamber was added in 1463 and the clock in 1779. The bells are also ancient and since the year 1295 have signalled the hours for the city, mark the end of the work day, and summon the people in time of danger. The tower is 83 metres tall and visitors can ascend it by elevator for a view over Verona.
