Hawker Sea Hurricane IIC preserved and flown by the Shuttleworth Trust at Old Warden, Bedfordshire

The Hurricane will forever be revered as the aircraft which, with the Spitfire, won the Battle of Britain. There were many more Hurricanes than Spitfires in the Battle and they accounted for many enemy aircraft than all other defences combined, including the Spitfire. Some were later hastily converted for service at sea with the Royal Navy. This one is the world's only surviving Sea Hurricane. The retractable arrester hook for catching the landing cables on an aircraft carrier deck can be see under the fuselage in front of the tailwheel. The aircraft has been preserved, restored and flown by the Shuttleworth Trust at their Old Warden Airfield, Bedfordshire, since the 1950's
