Penitence of James Bainham. 1868 reproduction of an engraving by the English historian John Foxe (1516/17-1587), showing the public penitence of the English Protestant reformer James Bainham at Old Saint Paul's Cathedral, UK. Bainham was burned as a heretic in 1532. Original illustration appeared in Foxe's 'Actes and Monuments (1684), popularly known as Foxe's Book of Martyrs.
