Should be planted in rich, well-drained, sandy soil. If the soil is heavy, prepare it by mixing in plenty of sand and well rotted manure to the depth of 6 or 7 inches, or by mak- ing a small trench 4 or 5 inches deep, filling this up with sand in which plant the bulbs about 3 inches deep, being careful to press the sand firm around them. Ranunculus are strikingly beautiful flowers, of every imaginable shade from bright vermilion to pink, vellow and pure white. They are free bloomers, very double, and useful for cut flowers.
