Portrait of King Alfonso & bride. The Morral affair was the attempted regicide of the Spanish King Alfonso XIII. 1886 - 1941, aka El Africano or the African, King of Spain . With his bride, Scottish born Ena Victoria Eugenie .1887-1969 (Written in some accounts as Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg aka Victoria Eugenie Julia Ema) , pictured on their wedding day, May 31, 1906. Their attacker, Mateu Morral's, act was designed to start a revolution. Morral threw a bomb hidden in flowers from his hotel window as the King's procession passed. 24 bystanders and were wounded.
