Mlle. Marie Cico as Simonne in Les Contes de Boccace in costume as an Italian lady, 1550. Mlle. Cico (1843-1875) was a French actress and singer, and mistress to her mentor Jacques Offenbach. Taken from Galerie Dramatique 1853. Handcoloured lithograph from Thomas Hailes Lacy's Female Costumes Historical, National and Dramatic in 200 Plates, London, 1865. Lacy (1809-1873) was a British actor, playwright, theatrical manager and publisher.
