Thaxted's Lincoln Organ played by Director of Music Christpher Bayston. 30 July 2016Christopher Bayston played the Goldberg Variations by Bach on the Thaxted Lincoln Organ to raise money for the Church restoration funds. The organ was used by Gustav Holst when he composed parts of the Planet Suite when hi lived in Thaxted in the early 20th century. The Lincoln Organ was built in 1815 by Henry Cephas Lincoln and was recently awardeda 'certificate Grade 1 as a rare instrument of its period'. The Organ was retored and reinstalled in the church in 2015.
