This young boy looking at the camera was three years old when this was taken in August 2005 at an expat home in Kathmandu Nepal A candle had to be used to light the room during one of the frequent evening power cuts He is of mixed race with an English father and Pakistani mother and has an exotic far eastern appearance and big brown eyes A wide aperture was used to give a very shallow depth of field making the background blurred and out of focus He sits at a wooden table with his head resting on his arm The dim low light levels result in a soft warm grainy picture with a mystical appeal and magical charm
