THE only remaining bank in Caversham is closing despite a community campaign to save it. The Nationwide branch in Church Street, which has a cash machine, has failed to get a second reprieve. It follows the closure of NatWest in Bridge Street in 2019 and Lloyds in the same street in 2016. The decision comes seven years after plans to close the branch were scrapped following a similar campaign by residents.
