Charlestown harbour, near St Austell, Cornwall, England
Charlestown about 2 miles from the centre of St Austell has remained relatively unchanged as a port. It developed in the late 18th century from the fishing village of West Polmear to transport copper from nearby mines and china clay from the region's quarries. It is now a popular tourist destination and also frequently used as a location for historical films. The photograph shows the 2 masted Brig Phoenix built in Denmark in 1929 as an Evangelical Mission Schooner and now owned by Square Sail Shipyard who hire her out for filming and functions.
