Field Marks: Among shorebirds, this species is second in size only to the Long-billed Curlew, a bird with which a careless observer might confuse it. Its coloration is similar to the Long-billed Curlew's, but the godwit's bill turns up and the curlew's turns down. Both have cinnamon-colored underwings.
