The flowers are very large, borne on long steins and are of the most charming butterfly colors, white, yellow, buff, crimson, purple, spotted, and shaded in a charming manner. For winter bloom they required only to be potted (4 or 5 in a five-inch pot,) and treated like Hyacinths or Crocus. When in bloom they will be a marvel of beauty and last a long time. There are two classes, the "large-flowered" and the "small ; The former all have large, upright blossoms; the latter smaller, bell-shaped, and drooping. Both classes are entirely distinct, and both very beautiful. Splendid Mixed—All colors, large and small. 2 for 5c; 12 for 25c. Vesta—Flowers extra large and finely colored, by far the finest of all Calochortus, and a free and early grower and bloomer. We cannot recommend it too highly. 6c. each: 3 for 15c. 12 for 50c. Neapolitanum—Florists find it indispensable, its pearly- white blossoms lasting so long, and its long stems and airy grace fitting it for all cut-flower work. Other people like it because it is so sure to bloom and so daintily pretty. It is hardy out of doors in a sheltered location, but indoors is one of the easiest of all bulbs to grow. Three or four bulbs can be placed in a 4-inch pot. The bulbs and foliage are small, but the stems rise to a height of eighteen inches, bearing beautiful umbels of fine starry flowers that remain perfect, for a month or more.
