Together these gentlemen went rang-ing over the hills on both sides of thefamous and picturesque Shenandoah valley, Newmarket Pike. It was nearly all clearedland and contained a large sink-hole, whichserved the farmers for generations back asa dumping-pit for weeds, stones, old rails,and debris, which they were accustomed totoss out of the way.
