Atyrau is the fastest developing city in Kazakhstan. Huge Oil and Gas deposits are driving the economy forward with lots of city residential, shopping, infrastructure and transport improvements. Winters are hard with minus 35 degrees being common. But with a fresh mantle of snow the city becomes very bright. The river Ural which normally divides the city becomes a frozen highway of snow and a good route for exploring parts of the old town
