The plant attains a height of from 5 to 6 feet, and in general habit resembles sometimes one parent and sometimes the other. The flowers vary from 4 to 10 inches in diameter and in shape closely fol- lows the Sunflower, having a flat disc and horizontal ray florets. In color, however, it resembles its other parent, being a purplish red, made brighter by the infusion of the yellow blood of the Sunflower. The flowers are excelleht for cutting for decorative purposes, lasting a long time cut, and with stems from IS to 36 inches long. The time of flowering extends from July to October—a long season. If sown early, will bloom the first year from seed, but they do not attain per- fection until the second season. From 60 to 70 per cent, come true from seed. 25 cts. pe
