The foundationmay be of cedar sills or concrete with a basement. The groundand first floor, including the roof, etc., are built of timberthroughout. This layout pro\ides three rooms downstairs andthree rooms upstairs with two chimneys for each house. Thestudding for the outer walls is 2 X 4 and the inside walls are2 X 3, aU at 16 centers. The exterior is covered with G. boards with a layer of felt and finished with interior is lathed and plastered throughout. The cost of this structure on cedar sill foundation was $2800,the details of which are given below. When concrete founda-tion is desired the cost would be about $3500.
