A farm seen close to the flood is one of the Dutch cities that is being affected by the high water level. The Waalkade, the zone closer to the river has been closed to traffic. Also, the Ooijpolder area which is close to the Waalbrug Bridge and surrounded by the Waal River has flooded. The area is located east of the city of Nijmegen in the province of Gelderland and is protected by dikes around the whole area. It is characterized by a vast landscape with small villages, farms, and nature.
