Infected eczema. Image 4 of 4. Infected eczema on the face of a 4-month-old boy. This condition is an inflammation of the skin accompanied by itching and blisters. Secondary infection of the blisters can occur as a result of scratching or poor hygiene. Eczema does not always have a known cause. It can be treated with soothing ointments and corticosteroid drugs. For this patient 5 days earlier, see M150/264. For an alternative view of the eczema, see M150/265. For the patient before the eczema became infected, see M150/263.
