The Market. Christinas trade in most instances was much better than last year. Stock of the better grades was sold clean and brought ^ood prices. Eoses sold espe- cially well this year, bringing from $3 to $6 per dozen retail. Carnations were not more than enough to go around, bringing $ and $2 per dozen. Amer- ican Beauties brought $12 to $18 and $24 per dozen. Violets did not move so well as last year, bringing $3 to $4 per hundred. Valley, Paper Whites and hyacinths retailed at $1 per dozen. Quantities of poinsettias were sold at from $3 to $6 per dozen. Potted plants sold exceptionally well this year, azaleas, cyclamens, Lorraine begonias, hyacinths and primulas be- ing moved in quantities. The higher priced plants and made up arrangements were quite in demand this season. Various Notes. Irwin Bertermann received a Christ- mas present that he should be proud of; it was twin boys. Chas. Schwake, with C. P. Meyer, called on the trade last week. Albert Pittet left last week for a brief trip to Europe. Geo. Welmer has taken a position with E. A. Nelson. A. Wiegand & Sons report the best Christmas trade they have had, an in- crease of twenty-five per cent over last year. This firm had a heavy sale of blooming plants, especially azaleas and made up arrangements. C. A. Kieman, of Connersville, and Mr. Meiklejohn, with H, F. Darrow, were visitors last week.
