Fractures of the clavicle in quite young children are best treated by aflannel bandage to fix the arm to the side with the hand on the oppositeshoulder, and a soft pad of absorbent wool in the axilla. The childs armis, of course, kept inside its clothes, and not put through a sleeve ; as suggests, a jersey may be usefully worn over the bandage to keep thelimb quiet. In this, as in all fractures, it is an excellent plan to keep theskin well powdered with boric acid or sanitary rose powder, so as to preventirritation of the skin.
