Femora dark metallic green, with yellowish-brown ends, tibiae brownish, the front pair darker; tarsi brownish, paler at base ; front tarsi nearly black. Halteres yellowish. Abdomen metallic blue, with violet reflections; last segment metallic green. "Wings subhyaline ; stigma dark brown; apex with a large brown spot enop erma i yma between the costa and the fourth vein, but encroaching very little beyond the latter; a round brown spot on the anterior crossvein, and a so- mewhat smaller one on the posterior crossvein ; these three brown marks are large enough to come very near each other, without being in contact. Hab. Hatam, N. Guinea, .lune 1875 (Beccari) ; three females. NB. This species differs in its characters from the typical Slenopterinae. As in S. cfjues, the third and fourth veins are con- verging ; the transverse thoracic depression is arcuate and unin- terrupted, but the second vein ends in the costa at a rounded, instead of an acute angle ; the anterior crossvein is not oblique; the posterior one is slightly sinuate ; the thorax is less bulky and its vertical diameter shorter ; the front coxae are shorter.
