Barbital. Molecular model of the barbiturate drug barbital (), marketed as Veronal. This was the first commercially marketed barbiturate. Barbiturates are central nervous system depressants, and are often used as sleeping aids (hypnotics). Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue) and oxygen (red).
