Kinkaku-ji. Unknown, photographer 1850s–1890s View of Rokuon-ji, popularly known as Kinkaku-ji, or Temple of the Golden Pavilion, from across the water. Each story of the temple features a roof with eaves that curve upward slightly at each corner and hang over a terrace that wraps around the building. A small portico extends out at the front entrance, and a figure can be seen standing on the ground floor terrace facing the water.
