Father pheasant jacana walking with playful chick siblings. West Bengal, India: CUTE images of pheasant tailed Jacanas chicks seeking shelter from the rain by using their father?s feathers like an umbrella have been captured. One of the images shows an adolescent kid jumping past a lily to get their father's lap to hide from the rain. Pheasant tailed jacanas are colorful water birds with long legs and incredibly long toes and claws, which allow them to walk across floating vegetation, especially lily pads. They're often referred to as lily trotters, who often appear to be walking on the water itself. Jacanas have a different breeding system to most other birds, female jacanas are more aggressive and larger in size than males, weighing at 190?231g. Male jacanas weigh 120?140g and typically build the nest, look after the chicks and incubate the eggs. Photographer Sunny Saha Pramanick (38) captured these images in Nabadwip, West Bengal, India using a Nikon D850. ?We were travelling on a dinghy boat at Purbasthali Bird Sanctuary district Nadia, West Bengal, India,? said Pramanick. ?After just travelling for an hour we saw a male pheasant-tailed jacana with four kids. "The chicks were hiding under the wings of their father because they were threatened by the weather as the day was sunny and cloudy, and sometimes there was thunder and lightning." The jacanas were three-feet away from the boat. "Whenever there was a chance of rain they went under their fathers wings as they got scared by the rain,? said Pramanick. ?I felt really great to have captured these cute and amazing shots. I liked capturing the chicks continuously going under the wings of the father whenever lightning struck and otherwise they were playing and jumping around on the Some people asked Sunny if the kids were scared, since the dinghy boat was so close to them. Sunny replied, "no, they weren't scared as they were used to having many people seeing them as they are the celebrities of Purbasthali
