Kennedy Department of Justice Building, is a historic government edifice located in Washington DC, the capital of the United States. This imposing neoclassical structure serves as the headquarters of the Department of Justice (DOJ), the federal executive department responsible for the enforcement of the law and administration of justice in the United States. Constructed in the mid-1930s, the Department of Justice Building forms part of the Federal Triangle, a group of government buildings situated between the United States Capitol and the White House. The building was named in honor of Robert F. Kennedy, who served as the Attorney General from 1961 to 1964, following his assassination in 1968. The design of the building, with its grand, symmetrical façade, Corinthian columns, and pediment sculptures, reflects the principles of justice and the rule of law that the Department of Justice is entrusted to uphold. The building houses various DOJ divisions, including the Office of the Attorney General, and includes numerous courtrooms, libraries, and meeting spaces. Of historical significance, the building was the location of high-level decision-making during several critical periods in American history, including the Civil Rights Movement and the Cold War. Its design and construction were part of the broader City Beautiful Movement in the early 20th century, which aimed to introduce beautification and monumental grandeur in urban design.
