Egyptian tomb scene, illustration. This scene shows weavers, as depicted on the walls of the tomb of Khnumhotep. It dates from the Middle Kingdom (Dynasty 12), during the reign of Senwosret II, in around 1897-1878 BC. This tomb is in Beni Hasan, Middle Egypt. The women at the right are plying linen thread and the two at the left are weaving cloth on a ground loom. This illustration (tempera on paper) was produced in around 1931 by Egyptologist Norman de Garis Davies (1865-1941) on an expedition for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
