Oren Marsh, was born in Amity, New Hampshire in the year 1804. Hisgrandfather Samuel Marsh, of Croyden, N. H., was a soldier in the Frenchand Indian War of 1756-1763 and served in the company commanded byCapt. Ebenezer Larnard of Oxford, Mass., in the regiment of Col. JosephFry. Marsh was taken prisoner by the Indians at Lake George, Healso served in 1760 in Capt. Hitchcocks company from Suffield, Conn. Hehad two sons, William and Samuel Marsh Jr. Samuel Marsh Jr., although exempt from military duty, consideringthe exigency of the times, volunteered to serve in a company of HomeGuards. The articles of enlistment were drawn up at Plainfield duringthe War of 1812 and numerously signed. He was registered as a MasterMason of Corinthian Lodge No. 28, in Newport, N. H., in February Marsh Jr. had sons, Elam, Oren, Hesea, Ira,
