Burial mounds for graves in the Hofskirkja church graveyard, a beautiful turf church in the Öræfi region in South-East Iceland.


The mounds exist because the volcanic rock in the area does not allow for deep excavations so instead people are 'buried' with a thin layer of soil protecting their graves.
