Vientiane capital city of Laos also know as the Land of a Million Elephants and the city of the White Parasol the major landmark is the Patouxay Victory Gate memorial tower Monument des Morts built in 1969 to commemorate the Lao who died in pre-revolution wars. The monument is said to be a copy of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
