Texas oil and gas. The Barnett Shale in Texas, USA, provides a huge supply of natural gas. After burn off, wells start producing natural gas.

This is what is called a "burn-off" at a natural gas well site. It is part of the process of closing in a well for production, and happens after drilling is complete. A tall pipe is erected to let off excess pressure and is burned to keep the gas from endangering the residents nearby. Texas wells along the Barnett Shale are being drilled very close to homes and communities as everyone tries to cash in on the boom.
