To Commemorate the Centenary of the first severe losses of Portuguese soldiers in the WW1, during the Battle of the Lys in Flanders, on April 9, 1918, St. James’s Catholic church in Twickenham has commissioned windows by Stained Glass Designers Caroline & Tony Benyon. Today the windows were blessed by Bishop John Wilson, titular Bishop of Lindisfarne, during during a special Mass. To Commemorate the Centenary of the first very heavy losses of Portuguese soldiers in the First World War, during the Battle of the Lys in Flanders, on April 9, 1918, St. James’s Catholic church in Twickenham has commissioned windows by Stained Glass Designers Caroline & Tony Benyon. Installed in the last few days, the windows were blessed by Bishop John Wilson (Bishops' robes) titular Bishop of Lindisfarne, during during a special Mass. A plaque was unveiled jointly by His Excellency the Ambassador Manuel Lobo Antunes (dark suit), Portuguese Ambassador to the UK, & by Field Marshal The Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank GCB LVO OBE DL (in uniform).
