Soldiers rescued from the Northern Pacific after it got stuck on the Fire Island sandbar near Honelyville, A total of 2,582 ambulatory wounded soldiers were safely removed using various methods such as a breeches buoy, surf boats, naval launches, and sub-marine chasers.
