A native son naturally proud of his association with this Pacificcommonwealth, Mr. Goodwin was born near Stockton, in San Joaquin County, on June24, 1854, the son of Almon D. Goodwin, a native of St. Lawrence County, N. Y., whohad married a daughter of Vermont, Miss Martha Brosee. ,\s far back as 1852 hisparents came to San Joaquin County, and Almon was sent to the San Joaquin districtschools and to the Stockton high school.
