Itsextreme headwaters lie at an elevation of nearly 500 feet, andare not more than 50 miles from tide water. Wells listed 20lakes in this basin, aggregating square miles in area ofwater surface. Without important exception these lie, however,in the extreme headwaters. Dams are maintained at severalof the outlets of the lakes, and the stored water is used forlog driving.
