Part of the stone circle of Avebury, Wilstshire, England, UK
Avebury, in Wiltshire, England is the home of one of the most important megalithic sites in Europe. The great stone circle encompasses part of the village and is enclosed by a ditch and chalk rampart. The 1930's saw the re-erection of many of the stones by the archaeologist Alexander Keiller. Triangular concrete posts mark the spot where stones, now missing, would have been located. This is a popular tourist attraction set in beautiful rolling countryside.
