This surprisingly abstract-looking shot is actually a close-up image of the star-shaped seed head clusters on an Allium growing in our very own Oxfordshire garden. Did you guess it? Allium is a genus of flowering plants that includes hundreds of species, including the cultivated onion, garlic, scallion, shallot, leek, and chives. This variety - Purple Sensation - has vibrant globular purple flowers when in bloom - not difficult to see why it is so named!
