Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire, UK. 1st June, 2021. HS2 have felled a large part of the ancient woodland at Jones Hill Wood for the construction of the controversial High Speed 2 Rail link from London to Birmingham. The HS2 mitigation for this is called translocation where HS2 scoop up the woodland floor and dump it into a nearby field. Dead tree limbs are also being put into the field in an attempt to attract wildlife. HS2 have said "there is limited robust published evidence of the effectiveness of ancient woodland soils translocation". Credit: Maureen McLean/Alamy
