Not for use in Television Not for use in Television Impetigo on the ear of an adult male patient. Impetigo is a skin infection usually caused by streptococcus or staphylococcus bacteria. It usually affects the face and limbs, and is highly contagious. It occurs when bacteria enter the skin through a broken area. Infection spreads quickly, starting as a red patch and developing into fluid-filled pustules that join, forming crusty yellow sores. Impetigo spreads by direct contact when the spot is rubbed, and via hand and face towels. Treatment is by the local application of antibiotics.
