Runners in the Hallam Chase from Crosspool in Sheffield to Stannington, claimed as oldest continuously-run fell race in the world dating back to 1862.


The Hallam Chase which began in 1862 and is claimed as the longest-running continually held fell race in the world is run on the Tuesday evening of on the Tuesday evening after the Spring Bank holiday in May, and is open to male and female runners from South Yorkshire road and fell running clubs. The circular course runs from the Hallam Cricket Ground at Crosspool over the fields to the Church Gate at Stannington and back again.
