A model 1845/64 officer's helmet, of the Bavarian Chevauleger Regiments Leather skull with a black fur comb and gilt brass mountings. Broad metal chinscales on lion head buttons. National cockade on the left with a white horse hair plume for enlisted personnel. Leather sweatband and silk lining. Height 31 cm. Emblem changed during the period it was worn. In 1864 the sun burst plate with the "M" cipher (Maximilian II) was replaced with the "L" cipher for his son Ludwig.
