The James ClarkBequest Fund for Consumptive Patients, administered by theDirectors, has benefitted to the extent of _^ 10,000 in gifts fromthe late Mr. James Clark of Ralston, and the late Mr. John Clarkof Gateside, Benefactions 105 The Annie Clark Fund for Incurables, also managed by theDirectors, was founded by Mrs. Stewart Clark of Kilnside, nowof Dundas Castle, Linlithgowshire, and amounts to ^12,000,contributed by herself and her husband. Mr. Stewart Clarkendowed two beds at a cost of ^^^2,500, and Mrs. Kerr of Gallow-hill, a sister of Mr. Clark, endowed a bed at a cost of ^1, Mr. James Claiik of Ralston, 1821-1881. Mr. Kenneth M. Clark furnished the Operating Theatre,which probably involved an outlay of ^500 to ^1,000. In thehistory of the institution there have been frequent occasionswhen, from unforeseen causes, the expenditure has been unusuallylarge. On one such occasion Mr. Kenneth M. Clark donated^1,000, and on another Mr. James Coats, Junr., gave a sumsufficient to wipe out the deficit, io6 The Paisley Thread The ladies of the thread connection have been liberal indonations of musical instruments of various sorts, and therehave been minor gifts, which it is unnecessary to detail. The present much respected Chairman of the Board ofDirectors of the Infirmary is Mr. Robert Balderston of Ardgowan-,who has had a lifelong connection with the thread trade.
