Osteomyelitis in lower legs. Coloured coronal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans through the lower legs of a 19-year-old patient of African origin with osteomyelitis. This MRI scan is T2-weighted, with the bright areas showing oedematous rearrangements in the shafts (diaphyses) of the tibia bones. Osteomyelitis is a term for bacterial infection of the bone.
